‘Catholic Warrior’ Who Vandalized Religious Display In Fla. Gets Off Scot-Free

Susan Hemeryck, the self-described “Catholic warrior” who vandalized a display by the Satanic Temple in the state capitol rotunda in Tallahassee, Fla., will not be prosecuted even though she confessed to the crime.

In March, Florida prosecutors announced that all charges against Hemeryck were being dropped, despite the fact that she admitted to police officers that she attacked the display because she considered it offensive, and she was captured on surveillance video attempting to carry it off. Read more

Cross Theft Lesson: Government Neutrality On Religion Helps Prevent Interfaith Conflict

Earlier this week, we heard reports that someone had stolen the Latin cross that was the subject of the recent Supreme Court decision, Salazar v. Buono.

As you may recall, Justice Anthony Kennedy issued an opinion that likely paves the way for the religious symbol to remain in the Mojave National Preserve. He said that the cross was not merely a religious symbol, but could serve as a memorial for all those who have fought for our country. Read more
