Stem Cell Tragedy: ADF Lawsuit Blocks Badly Needed Medical Research

Attorneys for the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) should be ashamed of themselves. They have succeeded in temporarily hindering sound science and impeding research that could save lives – just to push their fundamentalist religious agenda.

Yesterday, a district court issued a preliminary injunction to stop embryonic stem cell research. The ADF, along with Advocates International, had gone to court to stop the National Institutes of Health (NIH) from funding experiments using human embryonic stem cells. Read more

A Pox On Pulpit Politics: Americans Again Say No To Politicized Houses Of Worship

A recent survey by the Pew Forum indicated that the number of Americans who falsely believe President Barack Obama is a Muslim has actually increased since his election. That astounding and dismaying finding has understandably captured a lot of headlines. Read more

Snooki, Obama And Crosses In Utah: A Cretin, A Christian And A Constitutional Violation

OK, people, listen up: “Jersey Shore” party girl Snooki Polizzi is not a good role model for American young people, Barack Obama is not a Muslim and the Christian cross is not a secular symbol or a highway safety sign.

The first two assertions are too obviously true to need discussion. You’d have to be pretty darn clueless not to come to those conclusions. Read more

Jimi Jobin’s Credo: Liberty U. Grad Makes The Conservative Christian Case For Separation

It’s not every day that I find myself in agreement with a Liberty University graduate on the proper relationship between religion and government.

Go, Idaho!: Federal Judge Rules Against Religious Right Charter School

Idaho’s state slogan is “Great Potatoes, Tasty Destinations.” I’d like to add a third item: “Scrumptious Church-State Decisions.”

In a major defeat for the Religious Right, a federal court in Idaho has ruled that public charter schools have no constitutional right to use the Bible as part of their curriculum. Read more

Crazy Talk: ADF Lawyer Makes Nice With Florida Radio Extremist

Did you know that President Barack Obama’s name is really “Barry Soetoro”? Did you know that he “obviously hates Christianity”?

Were you aware that Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, is an “atheist Jew” who deserves to be thrown into a swamp?

Have you heard that God was so angry over a recent court ruling striking down the National Day of Prayer that he sent a fireball soaring over Wisconsin? Read more

Prayer Day Decision: The Religious Right (Predictably) Gets It Wrong

Last night, Americans United celebrated a decision by a U.S. district court judge who ruled the congressionally mandated National Day of Prayer was unconstitutional.

The Rev. Barry W. Lynn, AU’s executive director, hailed the decision as a “tremendous victory for religious liberty. Congress has no business telling Americans when or how to pray.” Read more
