Hawaii Political Leader Identifies ‘Righteous’ Candidate

The head of the Hawaii Republican Party has informed pastors across the state that James “Duke” Aiona is the only “righteous” candidate in the race for governor.

Hawaii GOP head Jonah Kaauwai sent an e-mail warning that Democratic candidate Mufi Hannemann is “not righteous” and any church that allows him to speak will be furthering “unrighteousness.” His missive also appeared on the Hawaii Christian Coalition’s Web site and was endorsed by Garret Hashimoto, the Coalition’s chairman.

Kaauwai warned pastors that “neither Mufi Hannemann or Neil Abercrombie [the other Democrat running in the gubernatorial primary] is righteous and a vote for either in the primary or general election is succumbing to fear and advancing unrighteousness!”

Kaauwai then cites Bible passages in his e-mail to explain why the Republican candidate deserves their support.
