Welcome To Washington, President Obama!

Celebrate or reflect today, if you are so inclined. Tomorrow it's back to work.

It's Inauguration Day, and much of Washington, D.C., official and non-official, is closed. That includes Americans United.

Many Americans are celebrating today. Even those who did not vote for Barack Obama can take a minute to reflect upon another transition of power in the world's most vibrant democracy. We are all fortunate to be a part of that.

Celebrate or reflect today, if you are so inclined. Tomorrow it's back to work. Our country faces several challenges. And while we understand that President Obama's first order of business will be tending to the economy, we hope he remembers the importance of shoring up the church-state wall and focuses on that soon.

Jefferson's wall has taken quite a few beatings since 2001. There is much work to be done in patching it up, and Americans United is ready to get to work.

In fact, we have nine issues we believe are most pressing. You can read about them here.

We invite you to join us in this effort to rebuild the protective wall of separation between church and state, the barrier upon which our very religious freedom rests.
