Ian Smith is a Staff Attorney at Americans United for Separation of Church and State.
He handles legal intake of new church-state separation complaints and pursues non-litigation advocacy to attempt to resolve violations without the need for lawsuits. Prior to joining Americans United, he spent his final year of law-school enrolled in clinical programs providing direct litigation services to poor and indigent clients in Boston. Mr. Smith graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in History from Vanderbilt University in 2004, and obtained his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law in 2008.
