Claire Hillan

Claire L. Hillan is a Madison Legal Fellow at Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

Claire earned her J.D., summa cum laude, and an M.S. in Government Organization and Leadership from Creighton University School of Law in 2015. At Creighton, she was the Executive Editor of the Creighton International and Comparative Law Journal, participated in moot court and trial team, and served as a mentor to incoming first-year students. She also interned for then-Chief Judge Joseph F. Bataillon of the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska through a public-interest grant, and for the Department of Justice Human Rights and Special Prosecutions section.

After law school, Claire clerked for Chief Justice Michael G. Heavican of the Nebraska Supreme Court, and then for the now-Senior Judge Bataillon of the U.S. District of Nebraska. Before coming to Americans United, she also worked as an Admissions Specialist for Creighton University School of Law, managing all law school admissions matters for a brief period.

Claire currently holds an adjunct professor position as the Program Practicum Supervisor for Creighton University School of Law’s Government Organization and Leadership program.
