Scripps Ranch Library
10301 Scripps Lake Drive
San Diego, CA 92131
Wednesday, January 11 at 6:15 pm to 7:30 pm
Dan Barker, co-president of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) will talk about the work of FFRF, including the organization’s past and future lawsuits. Music will also be part of the program.
Before becoming a skeptic, Dan was an Evangelical preacher for 19 years and wrote religious music. In 1983, he announced that he was an atheist.
Dan and his wife, Annie Laurie Gaylor, are co-presidents of FFRF, which works to prevent religious abuses in the public schools and government. FFRF employs attorneys who have repeatedly sued school districts and governmental bodies to prevent religious abuses, such as requiring children to participate in prayers in public schools.
Since becoming an atheist, Dan continues to write and play music with over 200 compositions to his credit. He has also debated prominent religious apologists, such as Dinesh D’Souza. In addition, he has written several books, including his latest: God, The Most Unpleasant Character in All Fiction.
Admission is free, $5 donation suggested.
